“From indie hits to eighties jams, here are some songs guaranteed to get you through the season!”
Hello All,
Every season has it’s own soundtrack, and now that spring is finally here it’s time to switch out your cozy winter tunes for something sunnier. Here are five songs that will get you through everything from spring cleaning to easter egg hunts to exam revision, no matter what genre you may prefer.
Open the curtains, grab your bunny ears and put away the winter jams for now, it’s time to get moving!
No Rain by Blind Melon – Psychedelic Rock/Grunge
It’s always best to start with a classic, and that’s exactly what this is. This is a song that will make you yearn for open roads and campervans, for spontaneous raves in meadows and technicolour, for an era you probably weren’t even alive for. It may be from the nineties but it’s perfectly sunny and self-depreciating message endures even now, and it’s perfect for relieving any pre-exam anxiety you may be feeling. If you ever need a dance break, this is the song for you.
Step On by The Happy Mondays – Acid House/Madchester
Once again, it’s an oldie but a goodie. The hooks are irresistible, the lyrics are absurd, and the band members are straight up mental. If there’s any song you should put on repeat for spring cleaning it’s this one, as you’ll instantly be transported to the heady days of baggy clothes, day glo and light substance abuse. The Madchester scene might be an unfamiliar one to anyone outside of the UK, but this is the perfect way to get stuck in.
Zoom By The Last Dinosaurs – Indie Rock/Synthpop
If you’re more of a laid back person, this is the perfect song for you. It’s the kind of music that makes you want to sit by a river journalling, or pressing flowers, or making sweet tea in delicate china cups. Admittedly the riffs are still to die for, but the mix of electro and poppy vocals mean it’s less in your face than some of my other picks. In short, it’s as close as this blog is going to get to recommending a pop song, so check it out.
San Francisco by The Mowgli’s – Alternative Rock
This might be the most unapologetically optimistic song on this list. It’s upbeat, it’s happy, and if nothing else the music video with put a huge smile on your face. If the kids have exhausted you this holiday, or the mountains of history notes you’ve still got to look through are getting you down, then this is the perfect song to help you get your energy back. Try and tell me it hasn’t cheered you up, go on, I dare you!
This Is Gospel by Panic! At The Disco and Popeska – Remix
Okay, so this might technically be cheating, but who cares? The remix is called the Start Of Spring mix, so it’s the perfect way to end this list! It’s chill but still bouncy, familiar enough to appease the emo trash while still sounding fresh and new, and most of all my boyfriend recommended it so it’s certifiably awesome. Plus it has gospel in the title, so it’s biblical right? I’d take this over a church service any day!
….And that’s all folks! Leave me a comment with your favourite spring time jam, let me know if you’re familiar with any of the songs on this list, and most of all:

Rock music is a good way to start NO MATTER WHAT! I didn’t know Last Dynosaurus and The Mowgli’s. I’ll browse something else by them (when I finish listening to The Mowgli’s that I’m listening to now on your blog 🙂 )
Every list with Panic! on is a good list! 🙂 And Zoom is such a great song too! Never heard of Last Dinosaurs before, but will definitely check out their other stuff. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve never heard of any of the bands you enumerated above but I am not on top with the new music of today. I prefer older music, classics. I will give it a go, listen to all 5 songs and see if i like them. 🙂
I guess the choice of music for me depends on my mood and activity. For instance, if I am alone, I could go with rock. On the road when I am travelling, I go for trance.
When I saw step one on your list I was like “yes finally someone” for some reason no one heard of that song lol ! But this spring I’m more into the London grammar and Lorde ! Great list I discovered some new stuff
I listen to mostly Top 40 pop music so I’m not familiar with the songs you listed above. I love discovering new music and will come back and visit again once I can crank up the speakers lol

Your blog is my inspiration, great content. Keep doing it. 🙂
Thanks for sharing this. I love discovering new music. Panic at the disco would be my favorite on the list.
Me too, Panic! have been a favourite of mine for ages. ❤
Ah the Happy Mondays! Now that is a tune that never fails to get me in a good mood!
Same here, but hardly anyone seems to know who they are!
Good choice ❤
Ok, en mi país no son muy conocidas pero al escucharlas de verdad son sonidos muuy buenos. Gracias por compartir esto 🙂
Might have to check these songs on iTunes. It feels like Blind Melon is from a distant past.
They really are! They’re a nineties band but I’ve always thought they sounded much older.
thank you 🙂 I’m going to ad two of them on my iTunes , that’s for sure ! Never heard before about Panic but now I want more of them
Panic! are hugely popular, so if you hadn’t heard of them until now you’re guaranteed to see a lot more of them in the future! ❤

Awesome! I listen to a lot of old stuff too (Sinatra and Julie London mostly!) but it didn’t really work well for this post. ❤

Yeah, me too, but I pictured this as songs for revising or spring cleaning too mostly. ❤

Oh my goodness I know right! It’s crazy! ❤
I love your list. Zoom is such a great song but I’m a cheesy pop fan so my taste is music is probably somewhat deficient.
Nah, everyone could do with some bubblegum pop at some point! ❤
I love Panic At The Disco what a great song to kickstart your spring.I think I need to download some old classics.

Some great finds here to be sure!! we’ll probably be searching for more songs to fil our spring playlist now 🙂
Great choices! I really like the Panic at the Disco remix and obviously The Happy Mondays as they’re from Madchester like me!
